Problem
A virtual disk cannot be opened during file recovery. The following An error message is displayed:
Cannot open this disk. Transporter assigned to the Backup Repository could not find contents on this disk.
Background
This error message can be caused by the following reasons:
- The disk cannot be mounted to the Transporter.
- The disk contains a proprietary partition table.
- The disk is encrypted.
- The disk is part of RAID.
- The disk is part of a Linux LVM structure.
Solution
To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:
- Make sure that the Transporter assigned to the Backup Repository has an iSCSI initiator installed and enabled.
- Make sure that the Transporter assigned to the Backup Repository does not have active iSCSI mounts.
- Make sure that the original disk:
- is not encrypted
- is not part of a RAID structure
- has a standard partition table (MBR or GPT)
- If the disk is a Linux LVM disk:
- If you are using a Linux-based Transporter:
- Find the “Logical volumes” item in the tree in Step 2 of the File Recovery Wizard.
- Click the item and browse the content of logical volumes disks directly.
- If you are using a Windows-based Transporter:
