When attempting to recover Microsoft 365 items, users may encounter the following error message:

MS EWS ErrorQuotaExceeded

The error may occur due to several reasons, including:

  • Storage Quotas Exceeded: The user's mailbox or OneDrive has reached its storage capacity.

  • Throttling Limits: Microsoft has temporarily limited the number of API requests due to high activity.

  • Per-User or Tenant Limits: Sending limits, item recovery thresholds, or message size limits have been surpassed.

  • Retention Policies: Items may be in a retention hold or a compliance hold.

Solutions

To solve the Internal error problem, ensure the target destination has sufficient free space. If the problem persists, please contact the support team.

Temporary Java Transporter Folder Free Space Problem

The temporary Java Transporter folder must have more than 5GB of free space on disk for temporary files. The disk should also have at least 10GB of free space available. The default path for the tmp folder is the following:

  • Win: C:\Program Files\NAKIVO Backup & Replication\transporter\java\tmp

  • Linux: opt/nakivo/transporter/java/tmp

EWS ErrorQuotaExceeded error

To solve the EWS ErrorQuotaExceeded Issue:

  1. Delete unnecessary emails or files, and empty the Deleted Items or Recycle Bin folders. Review mailbox quotas. For more information, see Mailbox quotas – Microsoft Docs.

  2. Clean up the Recoverable Items folder if it’s full. For steps and details, see Cleaning up a full Recoverable Items folder – Microsoft Blog.

  3. Lower the number of concurrent tasks or threads in job settings, and stagger recovery operations to reduce load. For more information, see API throttling – Microsoft Docs.

  4. Microsoft may temporarily throttle activity. Wait 15–30 minutes and retry the operation. For more information, see QuotaExceededException – Microsoft Q&A.
