Transporter Memory Allocation Error

Product version: 11.0

Last modified: 20 March 2025

Problem

The backup job failed with the following error message:

error16 - description='Internal error has occurred on the transporter.

FAILED (Transporter memory allocation error (ActionException)'

Background

This error occurs when the Transporter encounters a memory allocation issue. The failure may result from:

  • Insufficient memory allocated to the Transporter service.

  • Excessive memory consumption by other processes on the system running the Transporter.

  • Running an outdated version of the Transporter.

Solution

To work around the problem, consider one of the following solutions:

  1. Ensure the Transporter VM is not overloading (CPU, RAM, network connectivity). Consider balancing the workload or allocating additional resources.

  2. Increase the memory allocation for the Transporter VM or decrease its Maximum load value. For more details, refer to Editing Nodes.

  3. Stop all Job/Activity/Repository maintenance tasks then restart the Transporter service to clear any temporary memory allocation issues.

  4. Ensure that the latest updates for NAKIVO Backup & Replication are installed.

  5. If the issue persists, please create a Support Bundle and reach out to the support team for further investigation.
