Transporter Installation on Hyper-V Host Failed

Product version: 9.0

Last modified: 23 May 2019

Problem

When adding a Hyper-V host to the NAKIVO Backup & Replication inventory, the  following message is displayed:

Transporter installation has failed.

Transporter cannot be installed on the "X" host. This host already contains a physical machine agent.

Background

NAKIVO Backup & Replication offers support for physical machines via Physical Machine Agent (PMA) deployed on the physical machine. However, the product does not support the upgrading of the PMA installed on a physical server with the Transporter code. If you try to add a Microsoft Hyper-V host with the PMA installed on it to the product inventory, the Transporter installation process fails and the above error appears.

Important
Before you proceed with the solution below, make sure the PMA is not being used for backing up the physical server.

Solution

To solve the problem, take the following actions:

  1. Uninstall the PMA that has been previously installed on the host machine by running the corresponding uninstaller accessed from Programs and Features on the Windows OS.

  2. Either Install the Transporter or add the Microsoft Hyper-V host to the NAKIVO Backup & Replication inventory again.
