Replication or Recovery Job Cannot be Started

Product version: 10.5

Last modified: 19 October 2021

Problem

The replication or recovery job cannot start and returns the following error:

There is not enough space on the target datastore/storage

Background

For initial VM replication and recovery jobs, NAKIVO Backup & Replication checks the amount of free space on the target storage is larger than the size of all initial replicas or the size of all recovered VMs of the job. For incremental VM replication and recovery jobs, the product checks if there's more free space on the target storage than the minimum value set by the user during job creation. Target datastore minimum free space can be set as a percentage or MB/GB value.

Solution

To solve the problem, make sure that the following requirements are met:

  • For initial VM replication and recovery jobs: there is more free space on the target storage than the size of all initial replicas or the size of all recovered VMs of the job.

  • For incremental VM replication and recovery jobs: there is more free space on the target storage than the minimum value (in %/MB/GB) set during job creation.
