Hyper-V Failover Cluster Node Issues After Update

Problem

After updating  a failover cluster node for Windows Server 2012, the following errors may occur:

• current backup job ends up with an error

• VMs that belong to the cluster cannot be recovered or replicated

After you log into the updated host and try to open Failover Cluster Manager, it crashes with the following message:

A weak event was created and it lives on the wrong object, there is a very high chance this will fail, please review and make changes on your code to prevent the issue.

Background

This problem occurs when one of the cluster nodes was updated and others were not.

Solution

Update all cluster nodes by following the instructions.
