EBS Volumes Cannot Not Be Attached to Transporter

Product version: 8.5

Last modified: 11 March 2019

Problem

An Amazon EC2 backup job failed because one or more temporary EBS volumes could not be attached to the “X” transporter.

Background

To run an Amazon EC2 backup job successfully, the Transporter assigned to the job must be located on the Amazon EC2 instance that has a platform and type similar to the Amazon EC2 source instance.

Solution

To solve the problem, do one of the following:

  • For the Amazon EC2 backup job, assign the Transporter deployed to the EC2 instance that has a similar platform and type as the source EC2 instance.

  • If there is no compatible Transporter available in the inventory, deploy a new Transporter in Amazon EC2 making sure you choose the right instance type and platform.
