Backing up VMs is a resource-intensive process that places additional load on your infrastructure, whether it is based on VMware, Hyper-V, or AWS. This impact becomes especially noticeable in large environments with thousands of VMs. Running too many backup jobs concurrently on the same host or across the same network can degrade the performance of your virtual environment and slow down VMs. To reduce resource consumption, backup jobs must be carefully structured and scheduled to achieve the shortest possible backup windows.
Scheduling data protection jobs can be challenging in large virtual environments, where multiple jobs must fit into limited backup windows without overlapping. To address this challenge, NAKIVO Backup & Replication includes the Calendar dashboard feature, which is designed to significantly improve job scheduling. The Calendar dashboard displays all jobs in a calendar view, shows how long jobs ran in the past, and provides predicted job durations for future runs. This gives you a comprehensive overview of all jobs and helps you easily identify available time slots for new jobs, which can be created directly from the dashboard.
In addition, you can review past jobs to see their status and detailed execution information. The Calendar dashboard offers an intuitive interface and navigation, similar to popular calendar applications, making job scheduling and monitoring simple and efficient.
