Cannot Retrieve HPE StoreOnce Tape Capacity

Problem

NAKIVO Backup & Replication is unable to retrieve tape capacity data for added HPE StoreOnce tape devices.

Solution

If tape cartridge capacity is not shown correctly in the NAKIVO Backup & Replication UI, it may be due to an incompatible HPE StoreOnce configuration. Try the following:

  1. Select the following library and drive emulation settings for the needed tapes in HPE StoreOnce:

    • Library Emulation: D2DBS Generic

    • Drive Emulation: LTO 3

  2. Attach the tape device to the respective VM via iSCSI.

  3. Update media changer device drivers.

If you experience the same issue with other tape libraries or standalone tape drives, try updating the respective drivers.
