CIFS File Share is Inaccessible

Problem

After adding a CIFS file share to NAKIVO Backup & Replication and creating a backup file share, the Inventory creation /refresh process fails with the following error:

The "cifs" file share is inaccessible

Username and/or password for the "cifs" file share location is incorrect. Provide correct username and password.

Note

This issue only happens on Windows machines.

Background

The above issue is due to Windows caching/remembering the last credentials used to connect to a file share.

Solution

To make the file share accessible in the Inventory, provide the domain name (even if you are not a domain member) in the Username field, for example, localhost\<user name>.
