Creation of Bootable Media on Windows OS Machine Fails
Product version: 10.9
Last modified: 23 March 2023
Problem
When attempting to create bootable media on a physical machine running Windows OS, the job fails.
Alternatively, attempting to manually mount an ISO file in Windows returns the following error:
Couldn't Mount File
Sorry, there was a problem mounting the file.
Solution
To resolve this issue, try the following:
-
Open regedit in your Windows machine by typing regedit in the Search window, right-clicking it, and selecting Run as Administrator.
-
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
-
On the right side of the window, click UpperFilters. Then, right-click it and select Delete. Do not delete UpperFilters.bak.
-
Repeat step 3 for LowerFilters. Do not delete LowerFilters.bak.
-
Save your changes and reboot the machine.
-
Try creating bootable media or mounting the ISO file again.
