Transporter Service Fails to Start Due to Missing Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime

Product version: 11.2.1

Last modified: 25 May 2026

Problem

The Transporter service fails to start on Windows. As a result, backup, recovery, replication, or other Transporter-related operations cannot be performed.

Background

NAKIVO Backup & Replication Transporter on Windows requires Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015–2022 runtime libraries to operate correctly. If the required runtime libraries are missing, the Transporter service may fail to start.

Solution

To resolve the issue, do the following:

  1. Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015–2022 on the Windows machine hosting the Transporter.

  2. After installation, restart the Transporter service.

  3. Verify that the service starts successfully and re-run the failed job if necessary.

Note

The issue may occur after OS cleanup, manual package removal, or deployment of a new Windows machine without the required runtime libraries.
