RTR Job Failure: Maximum Transporter Capacity Reached

Product version: 10.10

Last modified: 28 September 2023

Problem

Real-time replication job for VMware fails with the following message:

Maximum capacity of "{1}" Transporter was reached. To run this job successfully, decrease the number of VMs in the job.

Background

For one real-time replication job for VMware, the Transporter's maximum capacity is limited to 11 source VMs in case there is one disk per VM or up to 50 disks per source VM. This limitation is conditioned by the following:

  • A single SCSI controller on the VM hosting NAKIVO Backup & Replication can support up to 15 disks including the system disk of the VM with NAKIVO Backup & Replication and mounted disks of the Backup Repository. Accordingly, with 4 SCSIs, each Transporter can support up to 60 slots/disks.

  • For each source VM, the Transporter occupies 5 slots (4 slots for I/O Journal and 1 slot for 1 replica disk). As a result, 11 Source VMs (one disk per VM) shall occupy 55 slots/disks on the Transporter in total.

Solution

To run this job successfully, consider decreasing the number of VMs in the job.
