NFS File Share Location Cannot Be Reached by the Transporter

Product version: 10.2

Last modified: 29 March 2024

Problem

When adding a Windows-configured NFS share to the Inventory, the job fails with the following error:

nfs: Cannot add the file share

The “nfs” file share location ([file share location]) cannot be reached by the <[transporter]> transporter. Make sure the location is reachable.

Background

The cause of this problem can be related to the Transporter service (bhsvc, bh) running under a local system account without permission to access shared resources (NFS) in the Windows Server.

Solution

To resolve this issue, you can select one of the two options:

  1. Join the machine with the Transporter assigned to the NFS share you want to add to the Inventory to the domain and then add the NFS share.

  2. Configure the machine with the NFS share you want to add to the Inventory as described below:

  • Press Windows + R, type secpol.msc, and then press ENTER.

  • Open Local Policies > Security Options.

  • Set the Netlogon value to Network access: Shares that can be accessed anonymously.

  • Click Apply.

  • Connect the NFS share from the Director to the server.
