Job With Existing Replica Fails if Not Original VM Is Mapped

Product version: 10.11

Last modified: 10 October 2024

Problem

The replication job fails with the following message:

Replica with such name "{1}" already exists. Change the target Replica name in the job or rename the existing Replica.

Background

In replication jobs, if a source VM replica already exists, the VM is automatically mapped to the existing VM replica used as a target.

Changing the target replica VM to not original VM (in the Destination step of the Replication Job Wizard for VMware/Real-Tme Replication Job Wizard for VMware > Advanced setup results in a replication job failure.

Solution

To run this job successfully, do the following:

  1. Click to edit the job.

  2. In the Advanced setup section of the Destination step of the Replication Job Wizard for VMware/Real-Time Replication Job Wizard for VMware, update the target replica by mapping a source VM to the not original replica VM.

  3. In the Options step of the corresponding wizard, rename the replica VM.

  4. Validate the updated job details by clicking the Save/Save & Run button.

  5. Restart the job.
