Corruption Of Recovery Points in Microsoft Azure

Product version: 11.0

Last modified: 10 September 2025

Problem

The recovery point created in Azure gets corrupted if backup/backup copy job was retried as a result of connectivity issues.

Background

The root cause of this issue is the lack of order of uploaded but not committed blocks of "block blob" returned by Azure API. This leads to "block blob" having the correct size, but randomized contents.

Solution

NAKIVO team is currently working on the fix for this issue. In the meantime, it is strongly recommended to verify your backups, since the recovery point may appear as normal until verification is done.

Note

This issue does not occur during the normal workflow. It only occurs after job failed and was retried.
