Backup for Group Mailbox Subfolders

Problem

When backing up Microsoft 365 Group Mailboxes, it's important to include their subfolders to ensure complete protection and recovery of all data, not just the top-level folders.

Group Mailbox Backups did not include subfolders (for example, Inbox subfolders). Starting with NAKIVO Backup & Replication v11.1, performance has been enhanced, and support has been added for backing up Group Mailbox Inbox and Deleted Items folders, including their subfolders.

However, this enhancement does not support backward compatibility for previously created incremental backups.

Solution

After upgrading NAKIVO Backup & Replication to version 11.1 or later:

• A Full Backup is required for any existing job including Group Mailboxes, to ensure all subfolder data is backed up properly.

• This Full Backup is automatically triggered on the next job run. No manual action or configuration changes are needed.

• The job run is performed as a Full Backup, but is displayed as an Incremental Backup. As a result, the backup duration may be longer than usual.
